FINDING ART

Form, Aesthetics, & Content
We chose an octagon as our shape because we wanted it to be a bit different and it was made from the vague shape of a rectangle, but instead we connected the edges together into an uneven octagon.
It is a pleasant experience as it provides the viewer with time to relax because there isn’t any thought needed to view this piece. The vagueness of what your looking at gives you the opportunity to see whatever you want to see when you look through the “viewfinder.”
This piece tells you that art is up to you to decide. Since the view changes depending on which angle you look at it from, you can choose how you feel about it and change your experience.

The art was there even before we put a frame around it, which is how we found it. All the frame did was put more emphasis on the view.

Once the rectangle is gone it will still be art. It may not get as much attention as it would’ve when the octagon was in place, but people will still look out the same window and admire the view all the same.

Defining art can be very easy because “everything is art.” You can argue over anything you could possibly find and tell someone that it is art as long as you are able to get your message across. Some may understand while others won’t and that’s fine as long as you believe it yourself. You’ll know art when you feel it. If you look at just anything and don’t feel as though you felt an experience while observing it, you didn’t experience art or see it.

Art is never confined to an object. Art can be sounds which is what music is. People can create art in any form. It can be the way something sounds, how it tastes, basically anything that can tickle your senses. When you experience art through your 5 senses, you develop feelings towards it whether it be happiness, hatred, or whatever else you could imagine.

Art definitely resides in the experience of the viewer because if the viewer feels no attachment or any emotion to their art experience, they haven’t experienced what art is like. Had the viewer been indifferent to feeling the art, it would have no meaning to the them, making it not art.
